Body

First, create a stripe pattern on the shirt using the yellow ribbons. Put the shirt flatly on a table. Then, cut 4-5 strips of yellow ribbon/cloth and lay it horizontally around the shirt to see how it should look like. Since, this step can be done with the help of fabric glue, the most convenient way to do this is to ask the kid to put on the shirt, and carefully glue the strips around the kid’s torso. There should be a minimum of 1 inch space between each strip to create the bumblebee trade mark color. Repeat the step for the socks, but this time, cut the yellow strips vertically to create thinner strips. Glue the strips around the socks. Again, make sure to leave enough space between strips.

Hat

The shirt’s hood will act as the “hat” of the costume, this will give the cute illusion of a bee head. It is also faster to wear and comfortable for the kid. On the upper part of the hood, sew one black button and the other one on the other side. The buttons will now look like tiny eyes but they are not! Next, get a pipe cleaner and twist the other end around the button while the other end should be twisted in a small swirl. Do this process on both buttons. The pipe cleaners should look like cute antennas over the hood.

In case the shirt does not have a hood, Headbands can be used as an alternative. Prepare a yellow or black headband and use the pipe cleaners to form swirly antennas on top, then pin a small plastic sunflower on the right side. For boys, a hair bonnet will do the trick. Cut small holes on top of the bonnet and put the pipe cleaner, tie a knot on the other end so it will not fall off. Then just twist the same swirl on the other end.

Wings

Creating the wings is easy with the help of a plier and some helping hands. First, pull and bend the hanger to form an oval, after that twist the hook of the hanger. Make sure that somebody is holding the oval shape to prevent it from deforming while the hook is being twisted. Do it again for the second hanger. Now, the wings are ready to be clad with the stockings. Use dye to turn the stockings into yellow. Cover the oval wing frames with the stockings. Then, fix the oval frames together using strings. The final step is to tie garters on the middle part of the wings. Try to create two circular garter holes, enough for the kid to slip his/her arms and put the wings like a backpack. Now the little bumblebee kid is ready to buzz around!
